My Fitness Journey

I was always sporty as a child; I played hockey up to regional level, rode horses, played girls rugby for several years, participated in athletics as well as numerous school clubs. I slowly developed very unhealthy habits towards food driven by my overly critical mindset go my body at a very young age. Sadly, teenage girls having unhealthy body images is not a new phenomena  and while I do not have the credentials to discuss this topic, I can share how changing my lifestyle and working on my physical health has vastly changed my confidence over the years. I can only encourage other people in same circumstance to take the leap into a healthy fitness regime!

At about 16, I started going to the gym a few times a week. At first, just cycling and running endlessly followed by mindless crunches. Gradually, I begun following 'influencers' on Youtube and Instagram which started to educate me on lifting weights and more effective ways of doing cardio. By the time I was 18, I was regularly lifting weights and came up with the goal to change my physique to be strong, athletic and curvy. While I was pretty much self taught from social media, I was aware of the amount of conflicting information, so took it upon myself to read articles and studies myself. This is how I developed my understanding of fitness beyond that of an amateur and was able to start making much faster progress independently.

I spent all of 2018 taking my new found knowledge and improving the mindset I had towards food and my body. This was also the year I started my instagram page with the aim of sharing what I had learnt throughout my journey with other girls.

With my blog I'd love to share more in depth detail of my lifestyle, points of interest I have learnt about and write more about specific topics I am asked about regularly. If you have any questions, or want to know anything in particular, please do reach out!
